Even though the phantom 4pro has the obstacle avoidance all around, the place must be properly illuminated or it won't work. I believe as you go lower in the cylinder, you'll receive less light.
I usually keep the battery in, but halfway so that contact is not made and dust won't easily get in.
I've had too many indtances where a bad battery caused me to loose my expensive equipment. I'm not taking any chances again.
I've had terrible experience with that. I bought a used p3 that was claimed to be flying perfectly except for slight damage to the box it came in. When I received it, it was a total wreck.
