I was only 400 feet and some change in altitude. I live out in the country and Its so flat I can basically keep line of sight even at extreme distances. 18000 was distance, not altitude. Phantom's are limited by software to prevent them from climbing more than 1600 or so feet. 18,000 feet...

So.. No chance having the gimbal cover on could have caused any gimbal motor damage in the 10 seconds the gimbal was restricted?

I understand what you are saying, but I am positive I didn't turn it on. 110%. It works fine, I was worried about damage that may be minor but not show up for awhile.
