It is definitely not wifi, just "wifi band".

On my P4, the occupied bandwidth doesn't change when you select lower bitrates. That would be cool though. Lots of wasted bandwidth for a 4 Mb bitrate.

Actually the FCC limits in the US are the same for 2.4 and 5.8 Bands. +36dBm/4W.

The channel hack is only for the 2.4Ghz Band. If you don't use the channel hack, you're stuck to ch.13-20, all of which are already occupied by wifi devices. Using the hack enables more channels in the 2.4Ghz Band, outside of the wifi range. 5.8Ghz is a completely different topic.

I believe the P4P uses 2.4 GHz for the control just like the P4, but sends the video stream on 5.8. This is much better as each has the entire band to itself, barring outside interference. If I can get some hands on time with a P4P I will be able to provide some more detail.
