I have decided to sell it for whatever I can get. There are just too many possible causes for this failure. I'm still inclined to believe that is a firmware problem because it worked perfectly before sitting on a shelf for 18 months. I will be posting it in the classified section later today.

I'm not saying that a data file is the only ID I have on my drone. It is just one more way that someone might find me. A label has limited space and may fall off or get destroyed. The chip has unlimited space for information and will likely survive most crashes and weather.
