How big should the landing pad be?

Thanks. I have never flown one of these before an noticed how close the camera is to the ground. I can't always be certain that the landing area will be smooth or without high (several inches) of grass. I don't care much if a prop breaks, but I'm really concerned about gimbal or camera damage.

Just waiting for the weekend to maiden my Phantom. After reviewing this forum and others I was wondering if it is wise to purchase a gimbal protector and landing leg extenders. If these additions are worthwhile, can someone provide a reputable brand?

Got it. I'll have to practice the technique. Waiting to receive an IPAD MINI 4 so that I can finally maiden.

I now have 2 used Phantom 3 Standards. Waiting for an IPAD Mini 4 to arrive. Can I use the IPAD on both Phantoms?

New owner of Phantom 3 Standard. Would like to get a used tablet. Have it narrowed down to a choice of two. The first is the Google Nexus 7 (2013 - 2nd generation). The second is the IPAD Mini 2. Any help in reaching a decision would be greatly appreciated.
