OK, after powering it off/on a couple of times I got the "new FW version available" after the FW check/comparing with server... plugged them together and updating now.... I thought I was going crazy here for a minute! Thanks for the kick in the head guys for me to remember the steps... :-)

Sensors status: IMU/compass all good. Aircraft flight status all good, but still says latest FW even though it checked version on main screen when DJI app starts on the P4P+ screen. I know I've not updated the FW since the 2nd update. We are on #3 right? Since Dec. 2016?

**I forgot** Besides having the gimbal guard in place I'd put that small rectangular piece of foam behind it (the one that came in the original DJI P4P box-that is easy to miss) just for added cushion to the gimbal.

Yes, they are padded and designed for that. Waterproof and lockable. You should be good to go. Just carry on the batteries maybe purchase a LiPo safe bag to carry them in, but not required. Good luck on your trip and take lots of pics/videos! :-)

Club Case also makes another model which will hold more items and you don't use your stock P4P case inside. It should be in the same Amazon page. I think with that model you can leave your props on and more battery spaces.
