My most recent crash with a P3P one of the ribbon cables from the camera to inside the drone was damaged. One of the eight wires in the ribbon got pulled out of the end of the cable connector. With a magnifying glass and tiny pliers was able to push it back into place.

Not sure if this will help. A link to a hobby shop that sells them. They have a FAQ tab and a link to a customer service team I believe for that product. Edit: I found that with google, there may be more helpful links out there.

I'm still sort of new and have a P3, I know it is different than P4. On P3 you have to press button then press and hold to turn on/off the remote/drone. Is it the drone or the control going dark?

Update: Good news, not sure if it was the connection or the new compass. I checked the connection and unplugged/plugged in a few times and decided to put the previous compass back on. Took it out for a test and the problem is gone and looks and flies like new out of the box.
