I connected the controller to the gimbal using the micro USB cable and updated it that way. Make sure .BIN file is not in a sub directory. When it starts to update a blue light will flash and beep.

I agree. I usually place the remote along with my cell phone at least 10 feet or more away after I've initiated the calibration. I once had trouble calibrating my compass on my Phantom 2 because I was too close to the GPS unit in my car. I had to turn the GPS off before it would calibrate.

I bought the Ipad Air specifically for my P3 and was somewhat disappointed when I learned of the delay. I was able to download the android Pilot App and it connected with no problem to my HTC M8.I think the app is intended for the Inspire though.

I tested it in a suburban area surrounded by trees and averaged 1700 to 2000 feet, which I think is pretty good for what I considered to be pretty bad conditions. Much better than range than what I got flying my P2 + in the same area. Hoping to test it in more rural areas during the weekend...
