    I fixed the ESC error on my Phantoms by downgrading the firmware and then upgraded to latest firmware.

    Yes but you have to download to a laptop to grab the bin and place it on a sd card.

    You mentioned you replaced landing gear, the compass wiring is very easy to break if not installed properly and carefully maybe by previous owner.

    once you put the sd card with the two bins and turn on the drone it should start the writing process. is beyond me why it doesn't work. are you using a fan in front of the camera as well right?
