I've tried switching it back and forth but it doesn't do anything. Do you have to hook it up to something for it to do anything?

Does anyone know what the switch on the back of the controller is for? It has a handle thing with a little wheel that has little spikes on it. I looked at the wiki and all it said was "slide lever". It didn't say anything further of what it was for

I've had my phantom 1 for about a month now, and to turn off the quadcopter, I've just been taking out the battery pack. Is there any switch that I don't know about to turn it off?

Usually, I am taking off from a grass field (or as in today's case, on top of 8 inches of snow) so I just land it each time. I am probably too clumsy to catch it with my hand and I'd probably somehow get the drone flipped over

So I got a Phantom 1 done for Christmas and I flew it for the first time today. When I was taking off, if I didn't go full throttle and I kinda just eased into it, it would fall over. When it was in the air there didn't seem to be any balance issues. Does anyone know what could've caused this issue?
